the cigarette edition…

cigarette papers

five minute
end of day;
gotta be
we can stop

drag & exhale.
never mind
what was,
will be.
i’ll show you how to
shove everything
outta sight & mind.

notagodamnthing matters
except smoke coming through
white paper. it ain’t
often things get easier,
i’ll take what i can get.

it’s a dirty habit,
& it’ll probably kill ya,
then again,
what won’t these days?

it doesn’t tip any balance,
‘cept warning labels &
sin taxes. some of us know
it doesn’t matter.
if it does, you’re
spendin’ the last
part of today
doin’ something
else entirely.

& i ain’t thinking
of y’all when
i flare nights
with match & fag.
i ain’t thinkin’
at all.

Nice one, I like very much

    itโ€™s a dirty habit,
    & itโ€™ll probably kill ya,
    then again,
    what wonโ€™t these days?

I try to quit, but so far managed to get the smoking down to3-4 a day …
Very kind of you to dedicate this to a reader, I’ve already been to this blog …

    • Always a pleasure to hear from you B. Perhaps you should suggest a topic of interest… Anyhow glad you dig the poem…so you are a smoker too? Good luck with the quitting, it is a tough job. Not for me quite yet…lol! Take care, hope all is well,

Write me a poem in any topic you like, but to be connected to me, surprise me, interesting to see what you gonna come up with, thinking of me ๐Ÿ™‚ …I’m ok, couldn’t leave last night due to strike, going now to check what’s going on and when do I leave! Have a good night!

  2. Love this one! The ending is superb.

    “notagodamnthing matters
    except smoke coming through
    white paper. it ainโ€™t
    often things get easier,
iโ€™ll take what i can get.”

    Were my favorite lines.

  3. I dig man!
Like how you said “so WE can think”…definitely you and your cigs lol…cool! lol
And it is in control you know “I’ll show you how to shove everything”
Basically when do our choices take a life of their own? When do we give in to them and we become secondary?
    I like…I think too much, don’t mind me ๐Ÿ™‚
Traipsing through the rest of the updates…toodles!

    • Not a prob, glad you liked. Would never have thought of doing a poem around cigarettes themselves; always thought they were kind of secondary. Good idea there! Anyhow, traipse as you please,

  4. Oops!!! thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ ‘ppreciated the kindness

  5. all i can say is.. jus wow!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. sweet to your fellow poet blogger, Lynna is cute and talented.

    lovely entry,

    • Well, I don’t know Lynna personally, but anyone who’ll take the time to read my page can suggest a topic. I always welcome feedback from anyone and this time it worked out well. Now if I can find a cute poetess to come over and join in on the fun, that is another story entirely (lol)!

      • I am game…actually CRB, I think you should consider this a next topic…way to ask a poetess to join in on the fun…let us see how you do and maybe just maybe someone would write in turn a reply accepting or rejecting…lol

I am so bad, giving you homework on your own blog lol…I hope it should warm your heart however…toodles, going visiting the new bb of yours ๐Ÿ™‚

    • awwwww! thanks Jingle, you are a sweetie pie ๐Ÿ™‚
cute? hmmmm now you are AWESOME and talented…you have my heart right there ๐Ÿ™‚
I am such a sucker for words lol

      • What you didn’t count on was me being more than wasted enough to take on all comers. ‘Comfortably Numb’ blares in the background, the one with Van doing some of the lead.

I tell you what. I’ll do it because it”s early and I’m ready to write. Giving me HW is okay, but this poet is mostly known for duckin’ out on HW Haven’t had to do that in 5 years… Anyway I’m game. Write me a poem about what might be a reason for an off chance comment to spark 4 poems. I like that regardless of what the fuck anyone looks like.

  7. Lol, doggone it the prof has been given work!!! lol

no poem necessary: boredom, numbness, uncaring, lol…but since you were nice to indulge me I shall try my best but I warn you I suck at HW ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
    ok duder! lol

    • Cynical and indeterminate. Goddammit my two favorite things. Is it any wonder a love of irony and poetry dripped until I found out I could swing it then it tumbled? I have faith you’ll do it but I ain’t a teacher, just a scavenger & student denied the ‘traditional’ path. Oh well, it’s all so much fun; I’ve got an idea but let’s find out how good you can be with the lights on. lol I win at double talk.

ps, L – you’re already thinking about the poem, you may as well write it down and share it. You’re being silly. Check for it when it comes & laugh.

  8. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    • I know. It sucks. You are probably not gonna like the poem that came out of this; got all mixed up with an experience out in the real world. Well, maybe, if you’re into negligence on a wide scale. lol, great reply though. You are a classic. I always wanted to be Cool Hand Luke, but I’ll settle for Steve McQueen. Who do you wanna be?

  9. hmmmmmmmmmmm grrrrrrrr
    ME, only ME ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Oooh I love it when someone finally demands some attention. You gave me me yet another one. I feel like I owe ya but I’m busted broke. Just as well; everyone tells me I can be real SOaB. Still, considering your fine effort of late, I can’t say no. Plus you totally used a smiley face and it’s 1:30 a.m. here & I think I see trails. Fun fun for Captain Kidd, right? Damn pirates, always doing whatever they want. We’ll get there eventually. lol

  10. You are served:
    now that’s the one…goodnight!
I did laugh, a lot, thank you!
